ALEXIS BLAIS (CA)
animal_farm (2022)

During the composition of animal_farm, I had the desire to explore time scales still non-existent in my music by manipulating preparatory montages and derivations thereof in increasing density in order to transform and develop the materials of the piece. The latter also reveals the imperfection of human gestures through the incorporation of MIDI performances during the editing phase. The esotericism of his approach sows ruptures and surprises, like so many false leads in his labyrinthism. Composed in a tense, anxious context, animal_farm seems to want to ask the simplest questions possible, without however managing to answer them completely.

DAVID NGUYEN (USA)
Texture Arc The Points (2024)

The work is dedicated to my late teacher M. Chambers, by the Debris Project, with sound solely from their database. Engulfed by the many points, as these materials conglomerate within the plane Matter as figurative and external / Conglomerates veil the arcs / Meandering through the flow, at times with extreme exaggeration / Flow that is never the same / As flow is made up of impermanent elements / Cyclic material that occurs “once”; an ephemeral quality / Often unfair / Endure with an inner rhythm of / Textures of a phantom-like movement / Veiled by the engulfment of the points / We endure through perception of, not form, but rather / Yielding the flow / And respond to the “through” material

TIN YAN LAM (HK)
New Ec0-existence (2024)

Electroacoustic composition for stereo or multi-channel arrays, composed and recorded at Laboratory for Immersive Arts & Technology (LIATe), the Hong Kong Baptist University and my home studio. New Ec0-existence was developed through recording sound samples, analysing recorded sound samples, and organizing and processing the samples. The 500 samples recorded feature air sounds along with non musical instruments and traditional musical instruments. One of the sounds is releasing air from balloons which produces a sustained tone in high register. All the sound recorded is then layered, timestretched, modulated to orchestrate a realistic simulation of space in nature.

MATTEO TUNDO (I)
Genesi astratta (2018)

This piece was composed imagining the neural path of an event. The information is initially perceived by the receptor organs and elaborated in a first neural stage. Subsequently the event is compared with the memory, in order to obtain an elaboration of the information coherent with the  personal life experience. The brain data becomes more and more abstract and create the meaning of the information, shaping our thoughts, our impressions. In this way we create ourselves through an abstract genesis. The sound events in the composition are always related to the previous  sounds and have been developed following an evolutionary process.

ALEXIS BLAIS (CANADA, 1998)
Electroacoustic music composer based in Montreal. Graduated from the Conservatory of music of Montreal with Louis Dufort, he is currently pursuing his master's degree in Composition and sound creation at the University of Montreal with Ana Dall'Ara-Majek. Classical pianist by training, his acousmatic works are part of a plastic and textural research of concrete materials against a background of modal harmonies. He also works in theater and dance, in addition to teaching sound design at the National Circus School in Montreal and at Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf. His piece SKAND is finalist of the 2023 Luigi Russolo award. His works have been performed in England, Europe, Brazil, Japan and Canada.
